In March 2025, Liberland took a bold step into the future by launching a unique non-fungible token (NFT) featuring the Liberland flag as part of an international collection of symbolic digital artifacts sent to the Moon. The mission was organized by Copernic Space, collaborating with commercial lunar landers to place digital and physical time capsules on the lunar surface. The Blue Ghost mission was successfully completed on March 2, 2025, when the lander touched down safely on the Moon’s surface. This was the first successful commercial lunar mission in the world. This achievement means the Liberland flag is now—digitally—present on the Moon as part of humanity’s collective heritage.

Why digital first: Lunar landing remains extremely challenging, with recent mission failure rates exceeding 60% for private companies, and even several government missions have failed. To maximize the chance of success and ensure Liberland’s symbol would reach the Moon, we chose a digital-first approach. This prudent strategy proved wise, as it allowed us to participate in a historic mission while minimizing risk.
